          Web Design

In January of 2010 I traveled with an 11 person production crew to Guanacasté, Costa Rica to assist Earth University, LaFlor in promoting their campus's initiatives and their Down to Earth program. We believed the best solution was to create two separate websites, one for each goal.

Down to Earth

The Down to Earth site (home page seen to left) was created to promote their educational program in which students and schools from around the world visit the LaFlor campus, located in Guantacaste province, and spend 2 weeks learning about eco- and agro-tourism and sustainable development on their campus and local communities.

For this project my responsibilities were:

    Production
  • Nature and Scenic Photographer
  • Team Ecology Liason
  • Audo Technician
    Post Production
  • Photography Editor
  • Science Copywriter
  • Sounding Editing
The following programs were used to design and develop content for this website:

LaFlor: Centro Daniel Oduber Quirós

The Earth Univeristy, LaFlor site (home page seen to left) was created to promote the campus and its initiatives in research, commercial ventures, and education. LaFlor is where all of Earth University's 3rd year students go to study sustainable agriculture. The campus conducts research into the sustainable farming of rice, mangoes, and sugarcane which the school sells commercially to grocers and paper distributors around the world.

For this project my responsibilities included:

    Production
  • Nature and Scenic Photographer
  • Team Ecology Liason
  • Audo Technician
    Post Production
  • Photography Editor
  • Science Copywriter
  • Sounding Editing
The following programs were used to illustrate and animated the film:

SugarRush Fudge (This site is temporarily unavailable)

For a class project I teamed up with 3 of my classmates and offered our services for free to a local business. We chose to design and develop a new website for a small fudge business that is run out of the kitchen of the owner's home. We wanted to give them a "homemade site with a gourmet look". An approach that matches the company's motto. We recreated a more aesthetically pleasing site that had more flow and balance. In addition to the website, we created a social networking presence by creating a Facebook Fan Page as well as an easy to edit blog using a content management system.

For this project my responsibilities included:

    Product Photography
    Company Research
    Photo Editing
    Social Network Management (Facebook)
    Copywriting

The following programs and websites were used to design and produce content for these sites:

Memory-all website title

Memory-all

This was the first website I designed and developed. It was created as a project for my Digital Media and Writing class, showcasing my past and my heritage.  As you can see it most definitely has a 1990's feel to it with the beveled button edges and the repeating background (What was I thinking?!).  I also didn't put much consideration into usability when designing the navigation guitar.  Regardless of it's poor quality, I've included it in my portfolio to show how far I've come in my design and development.  In less than year, with knowledge gained in the classroom and insight from some of the most talented classmates one could have, my skills and knowledge have improved 100 fold to the point where I'm able to design a more visually appealing and engaging website that you are viewing now. And I know my next project, and the one after that will be 100X better than the previous.

For this project my responsibilities included:

  • Photography
  • Photo Editing
  • Flash Animation
  • HTML Coding
  • CSS Coding
  • Copywriting
