Through capillary painting, Sarah captures moments meant to take the viewer through both the microscope and telescope, and into a vision of new physical cosmology.
This one-of-a-kind piece is created by manipulating the material plane of the painting medium in order to create the slopes and curves of space-time. This process is then coupled with capillary action panting, where wet-medium film is layered together with paper and paint that is then manipulated to ‘cook’ and disperse.
Capillary action and adhesion principals direct and influence different viscosities of paint on the flexible surface. The end result is an artistic representation of earth and space, the microscopic world and the cosmic universe.
